2010.

Dear 2010,

You've been good to me. You started off not so great, but man, you definitely turned things around.

top 10 in 2010:
1. The Giants WON the World Series. (Really can't ask more than that, so that's gonna be 1-7)
8. Graduated :]
9. Got a job.
10. Moved back to Norcal (& on time for the world series)

I know I've been blessed with so much more this year, but these are the top 10-ish. I really just wanted to blog about the Giants. On that note, I leave with this...

in my time

A conversation I had with my mom today...

Sarah: we are gonna go to blue bottle coffee
Sarah: have you heard of it before?
mom: no, what is that?
Sarah: it's supposed to be really good coffee
mom: where
Sarah: they have a location in the ferry building
Sarah: but we're not going to that one i think
mom: ok, now i know, just like the one i use at home, manual drip
Sarah: ohhh is that why it's good?
mom: i don't know, but that's what they do, i think is all going back to the old times...........
Sarah: like in the 70's? hahaha
mom: just like the plastic bag, no one used it when I grew up
mom: in my time, people take their own bags to the market, it's called recycling
mom: now people do the same thing,
Sarah: hahaha. vintage
mom: now all organic, my time no processed food, all organic, no antibiotics to make it FAT FAT FAT
Sarah: haha ok. i wish i lived in your time then
mom: oh yes good times, now parents limit their kids for TV, my time, no TV, all natural, you play in the back yard, playground, etc

I love my mom! She is one of the biggest influences in my life. I'm curious what it was like to grow up in "her time."

rescue

"Came to My Rescue"
Falling on my knees in worship
Giving all I am to seek your face
Lord all I am is yours

My whole life
I place in your hands
God of Mercy
Humbled I bow down
In your presence at your throne

I called you answered
And you came to my rescue and I
I wanna be where you are

In my life be lifted high
In our world be lifted high
In our love be lifted high

joy.

finding joy in the simplest things are sometimes the most gratifying, don't you think?

this verse has been on my heart.
"You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail." Proverbs 19:21

the flower father.

around mid-june, graduation ceremonies started to commence. i drove by school pretty often for what not reasons, and i noticed traffic started to build in this particular intersection. i reasoned that part of the traffic was due to graduation ceremonies, but on one particular saturday i noticed this middle-aged man wearing a well-worn suit, selling flowers at the street corner to cars driving by for graduations. my heart went out to the man because he was sacrificing his saturday to sell these flowers instead of spending time with his family. my heart than sank when i saw a little girl playing in the grass beside him, keeping what seemed like her dad company while he had to work. at that moment i wish i had money to buy all his flowers so he could go home with his daughter and spend quality time with her instead of standing on the street. i'm sure if must have been unpleasant for the father to stand there, without a proper booth and running to car windows in order to sell his flowers. but i admire his passion to provide for his family no matter what kind of job.

i think we easily forget the sacrifices people, particular our parents, have made in order to put us where we are. i am definitely one of those who forget and take the special moments i have for granted. my heart goes out to the flower father and his family. and the next time i see him selling flowers, i sure hope to buy them from him and i hope you do too.

project apron

lately, i've been inspired to sew again. i'm not sure what struck me. i think it was when my roommate took out my sewing machine and i thought, what a pretty machine, yet so sad that it's constantly stored away. maybe i just felt the need to be productive and make something. anywho, thus began project apron. my mom bought me my sewing machine about three and a half years ago for a school project. since buying the machine, i've used it only a few times. once for the project, a couple times to hem pants, and once this past halloween. what a shame. my mom bought me a machine and i made nothing out of it. the project that i initially needed the machine for was a disaster. the halloween costume redeemed the previous disaster project.

[the halloween costumes]

so, i decided that since my mom bought me a sewing machine, i should do something nice and make something for her - thus project apron. the steps to the project you may ask? first, inspiration! i want to sew!! second, came flickr. thank you jesus for flickr and everyone that shares their wonderful pictures on that website. third came buying the fabrics and fourth, the endless hours of labor.

the machine:

the final product: one complete apron and one very happy mother :]
